Production stages
The technological process for the manufacture of longitudinal welded pipes includes several stages:
Unwinding sheet metal (coiled steel) and cutting it
The operation is performed using a longitudinal cutting unit, which makes it possible to produce strips of metal (strips) of the same width with high accuracy. This further ensures the convergence of the edges of the strips during the molding of the pipe billet.
Strip welding
For the production of pipes, a continuous supply of metal tape is required. This operation is performed using semi-automatic submerged arc welding and ensures the formation of durable and ductile welds with the minimum possible number of defects. The resulting band is transferred to the drive.
Tube blank forming
To give the flat shape a pipe shape, it is passed through a system of horizontal and vertical rolls. Each subsequent pair of rolls reduces the radius of the workpiece, until its edges are as close as possible to each other.
Weld longitudinal weld
For this purpose, high-frequency welding is used, by induction. When using it, the joined edges of the workpiece are heated by high-frequency currents to the melting temperature, and then squeezed by crimp rollers. The result is a strong and durable connection. This process is very fast and takes no more than three seconds. Then, to improve the appearance and quality of the weld, an operation is performed to remove the burr.
Such an operation is performed only in the manufacture of shaped pipes. To do this, round billets are passed through molding rolls, which give them a rectangular or square shape.
At this stage, the ovality of the pipes is eliminated and the accuracy of their geometric dimensions and shapes is ensured. For this, the product is first cooled with water and then passed through calibration rolls.
At this stage, the endless pipe is cut on a cutting machine to obtain products of a given length.
At the final stage, the surface condition of the pipes is visually controlled, they are packaged and shipped to the consumer or to the warehouse.
